Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends family football scholarship and community service. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. He was also one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. Three brothers all made All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award for being the nation's best lineman. He won two championships and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third season in 1975. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in education. Fourth year of the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. He also began an entrepreneurial career. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relations Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as among the top 10 youths in the US. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He coached his university team in the year 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as an assistant director of sports. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
